Ellen went back to her nursing career after her children were grown and worked for over 25 years as an oncology Nurse at the Nalle Clinic and then at Oncology Specialists of Charlotte. Ellen and JC moved to Charlotte, NC in 1954 and lived there the rest of their lives, raising their four children and contributing in many ways to the community they loved. It was during that time that she met her first husband, JC Lyons, as he was one of her patients, having suffered facial injuries playing semi-pro baseball. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School and received her RN degree from Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Her parents were Beulah Sawyers Lewis and Franklin King Lewis.
Ellen Lewis Lyons Kennedy, born Septemin Oklahoma City, OK, passed peacefully among family on Septemat age 85.
